​​If a child or young person is in immediate danger or has attempted suicide:

Ask for an ambulance or police if necessary. Stay with the child until help arrives.

24/7 Helplines & Crisis Services

Free, 24/7, confidential support for anyone in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.

📱 Shout Text Line – Text SHOUT to 85258

Free, 24/7 crisis text support. Trained volunteers will listen and help.

📞 Childline – 0800 1111

Support for children and young people under 19. Free, confidential, and available every day.

🏥 Go to A&E (Accident & Emergency)

If you’re worried that a child is actively suicidal or has harmed themselves, take them to the nearest A&E. Mental health crisis teams are available in hospitals to assess and support.

🧠 Support from CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services)

If the child is under mental health services already, contact their CAMHS crisis team or duty worker directly. If unsure, contact your GP for an urgent referral or advice.

📞 NHS 111 option 1 children and option 2 adults 

Call 111 if you need urgent mental health support and you're not sure what to do. They can direct you to local crisis services.
